During the first lockdown, I wanted to mix things During the first lockdown, I wanted to mix things up, so I built a mountain bike and headed off-road. It was a fantastic way to explore my local area and I definitely learned a few things along the way.

Read about these lessons from lockdown in the new blog in my bio.

(And in case anyone is wondering, yes, my New Year's resolution was to complete all my half-finished articles from the past six months 😂)

It was so much fun - albeit type two fun - that I've signed up for the next one in April. Fingers crossed for sunshine and clear skies again 🤞

Thanks again to @boardclaw for the company and to the various people who shared photos, especially this beautiful one from @rpn83 that I was amazed to discover existed!

With lockdown now upon us, time outside is a preci With lockdown now upon us, time outside is a precious escape. That's why it was great to get back on the bike today, even if my knee was still protesting.

An hour of soft pedalling was all I could manage, but hopefully I can build from here.

2021 is here and I'm back out walking (now that my 2021 is here and I'm back out walking (now that my covid results came back negative). The floodwaters are hanging around, but the snow has gone for the moment.

My knee is still recovering, but it's getting better every day. I'm hopeful that I can get back on the bike to test it in the next couple of days.

Today was meant to be the final day of the #festiv Today was meant to be the final day of the #festive4000. Instead, I'm stuck inside waiting for the results of my covid test, although I am feeling much better.

But rather than post a photo of me tickling my brain with a cotton swab, I thought I'd share my top photos from 2020. You might spot a theme 🚴‍♂️

Thank you again to everyone who donated, even if the challenge didn't quite to plan. We've raised £325 for @mindcharity, which is brilliant.

I feel like I have unfinished business with both the cycling and the walking challenges, but tomorrow is a new year, so I'm going to leave them for the moment. It always hurts to give up, but I need to let my body heal, ready for some new challenges in 2021.

I woke up as snow began to fall and headed out thr I woke up as snow began to fall and headed out through swirls of flakes. The morning was beautiful walking through the snowy landscape, although I yet again had to dodge some flooding.

I pressed on through the afternoon as the snow melted away, but after the sun set, I started to suffer. I began shivering uncontrollably for the last hour, which I thought was simply exhaustion.

However, it turns out I have a bad fever and the doctor's orders are that I have to stay at home tomorrow. The causes are unclear currently, which means I have to take a covid test, meaning I'll probably be stuck at home for a while unless I wake up with another clear cause tomorrow 😔

After last night's storm, there was a lot of flooding, which complicated things. I found myself wading through thigh-deep water at one point! Snow is forecast for tomorrow, which will keep things interesting...

Time for a change of plans. The swelling in my kne Time for a change of plans. The swelling in my knee is subsiding, but it's clearly a long way off healing. If I hop back on the bike, I will simply end up back on the sofa holding a bag of peas before long.

However, I am able to walk without too much discomfort. So I'm going to turn this Festive4000 challenge on its head completely and try to walk 50km a day for the remaining five days of 2020.
▪️
This means the #festive4000 name is now nonsense. But people have donated, I have parts of my body that aren't yet broken and there are tens of thousands of calories of snacks in my kitchen.
▪️
It goes without saying that I haven't trained for a walking challenge like this, so who knows how it will go. But the worst that can happen is that I end up back on my sofa with that bag of peas, so what do I have to lose?
